HOw Does it Work?

Our Foundation has solicited monetary donations from national business, local business and individual donors in our WBR parish.  This money has been placed in an endowed fund.  A portion of the interest that is earned on this permanent endowment is disbursed to the Foundation to fund these annual competitive grants.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

All full time classroom teachers, PreK-12, that are employed by the WBR Parish Public School System or Holy Family School are eligible to submit a grant application.  Librarians and Guidance Counselors that are directly involved in the instruction of children may also participate.

WHAT ARE THE GUIDELINES?

A CURRENT grant application must be downloaded from this site.  It must be completed in full.  No attachments can be included and the space provided over the 3 page application cannot be exceeded.  Use the space allowed as an indicator of how much information to include. The application cannot identify your school, your name or any faculty or staff names that would identify your location – as this information can only be included in the one cover sheet.  All grants must have an academic focus, and all teaching acronyms must be defined for the readers.

IS THERE ANYThING THAT GRANTS WILL NOT COVER?

WHAT TYPE OF GRANTS ARE OFFERED?

There are 2 types of grants offered through our Foundation.  These grant applications must have an academic focus.  The Teacher Grant is for a maximum of $1,000 and only one application per teacher may be submitted.  All grants must be original in their content and may not be duplicated by another grant participant.  A School Impact Grant for up to $2,500 is also available.  Only 1 School Impact Grant may be submitted per school and must impact at least 50% of the student population.  The School Impact Grant applicant may not submit a Teacher Grant application.  Only 1 application per teacher may be submitted in a grant round.

Yes.  The following will not be covered by the WBR Foundation grant funds:  stipend pay for teachers; travel, room and board for training; any items that would be covered by the WBRSB General Fund, the Minimum Foundation Program (MFP) or the State General Fund.

WHEN ARE THE APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE?

At the beginning of the school year, the grant applications are made available for a month and a deadline date will be posted.  It is the goal of the WBR Foundation to have all applicants notified by the end of October so that they can begin their purchases and get their project up and going for the current school year.
